Artwork Description

"Vancouver Spanish Banks" is a very special oil painting that I just finished a while ago. I started painting this beautiful piece when I was pregnant two years ago. I was painting outside at Spanish Banks, and suddenly my favorite local bird Steller’s jay appeared. It was almost like a miracle because these birds only fly in the mountains and forests. I saw it as a sign. This bird flew for me all over to Spanish Banks so that I could paint it. It was certain to me that I have to commemorate that special bird in my work. The painting remained undone for some time, and now I understand the reason for that. When I am painting, I always demand the best possible results from my work, and I do not name the work finished until I feel completely satisfied with the results. It was only recently that I felt I could complete this marvelous piece to its perfection, and I did it! I was using Renaissance painterly approach along with the Italian technique impasto to create “Vancouver Spanish Banks”. The painting has six layers of different oil paintings one on top of another. It is very pastous with extremely thick and rich texture. The colors of the artwork just struck with their depth and richness.       View more of our Contemporary artworks and Old Masters artworks
