In this painting, you can see a little girl lovingly offering a flower to her beloved goddess Durga, whose deity has become covered in moss, with parts of it fallen to the ground over time. This artwork has three levels of understanding. The first is literal: the title itself originates from the image of pure faith, embodied by the girl making a selfless offering to the deity. Such sincerity is usually found in children. The second level is symbolic: typically, a deity is not worshiped if there are cracks or if something has broken off. It is believed that it has already left that form. However, the girl pays no attention to the material flaws, even when the adults have abandoned their worship. The third level is metaphysical. At the bottom of the painting, you can see that the girl is climbing not only over old stones but also over the broken pieces of the deity’s weapons. Usually, Durga has eight arms with different weapons in them, so this is an allegory that even Durga is willing to lay down her weapons before those who sincerely serve her with love. Thus, this artwork reflects the main idea that love is the most powerful energy in the world, originating from a simple yet profoundly valuable quality — sincerity.
