Upon first sight of Wu Yang’s oil paintings, one may be astonished by the dreamlike worlds she creates. In her art she creates endless fields, deep mountain valleys, and unbounded seas as the backdrop to the leading roles: huge rocks wrapped in colorful fabric. She creates a sense of time and space unique to each frame — a suspended stone in the forest, a stone in a stream, a stone wedged in between the metal of urban cities.
