Serge Mozhnevsky

Serge Mozhnevsky was born in Russia and raised in one of the most beautiful places in Ukraine, Uzhhorod, the capital city of Zakarpattia province.
In 1982 he graduated from the Uzhhorod Professional College with Honours in Wood Carving.

His works found home in private collections in Europe and the United States. Also, in the 90s, he started to develop his language in sculpting, believing that simple lines evoked by natural forms, such as the human body, provide the greatest freedom for our emotions and imagination.

In 2000 Serge immigrated to Canada and chose Vancouver as his home. While adapting to new life, he followed his passion for art and began his experiments with different materials in sculpting. The transition from wood to new mediums such as stone, steel and aluminum was natural. As a result, he stepped into the realm of public art.

For more than ten years, Serge's sculptures travelled through numerous outdoor sculpture programs in Canada and the United States. Some of them have become part of permanent collections of those places, such as Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Corvallis, Oregon; City of Nelson, British Columbia; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Castlegar, British Columbia; Marble Falls, Texas; Uzhhorod National University in Uzhhorod, Ukraine; The Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin, Slovakia; The University of Oradea, Romania.

For Serge, the sculpture has a language of its own. He communicates through his sculptures with the world, and language is expressive as it provides the opportunity for observation and reflection through the sculpture for and among all of us.
