Artist Biography

Ezra Ben-Joseph (1935) was born in Damascus in the year 1935. He arrived in Israel in 1943. Ezra lived and studied mostly in the Kibutzim (communal settlement) of the Galilee. Already as a child he was very interested and impressed by stories of the Bible and started his creative work on that subject very early. Ezra Ben-Joseph (1935) was the first to use the very old olive wood of Jerusalem. He felt that this kind of wood of the Holy Land has a meaning for his Biblical figures. His very personal style has been noted by critics, and his many works are represented in private collections and in Galleries in Israel, The USA, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Australia and Argentina.
