Artwork Description

Crowned Silence portrays a moment of quiet authority, where inner power is held in stillness rather than display. The crowned figure emerges through layered patterns, resin textures, and ornamental motifs that partially veil the face, suggesting wisdom beyond sight. Gold accents and intricate surfaces elevate the composition, reflecting a sense of sovereignty rooted in introspection and restraint.

Artist Biography

Selva Azad is an Iranian self-taught contemporary artist born in 1975. From an early age, she developed an instinctive and deeply personal relationship with art, particularly through painting and sculpture. Unbound by academic conventions, her artistic language has evolved organically through intuition, material exploration, and an uncompromising creative vision. Throughout her career, Selva has participated in numerous private exhibitions in Iran and has worked across a wide range of artistic practices, including floral art, candle making, and oil painting. This multidisciplinary background has shaped a practice rooted in experimentation and continuous reinvention. At the core of her work lies a pursuit of innovation through the fusion of multiple disciplines, where material, form, and concept engage in an ongoing dialogue.

This multidisciplinary background has shaped a practice rooted in experimentation and continuous reinvention. At the core of her work lies a pursuit of innovation through the fusion of multiple disciplines, where material, form, and concept engage in an ongoing dialogue.

In recent years, Selva Azad’s practice has become increasingly defined by exclusive, one-of-a-kind mixed-media compositions. Her work places a strong emphasis on premium resin, used both as structure and surface, combined with painting, velvet textures, real accessories, and refined diamond elements. These materials create visually striking artworks that exist in the space between abstraction and reality, characterized by depth, tactile richness, and a bold yet controlled sense of luxury.

Created under complex social and geopolitical conditions in Iran, and amid ongoing instability and conflict, Selva’s artworks have been transported to Canada through a highly restricted and challenging process. This journey further underscores the rarity, resilience, and singular nature of each piece. Selva Azad currently lives and works in Iran, continuing to refine a distinctive artistic language defined by material sophistication, exclusivity, and a powerful visual identity, with works conceived for private collections and curated interiors.
