His journey into the world of art began earnestly when he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in his hometown, a period marked by his involvement in local theatre productions. A prestigious graduate-level scholarship provided David the opportunity to further his studies in the United States. He completed his Master of Fine Arts degree in Dallas, Texas, before embarking on post-graduate doctoral research in art theory, history and criticism at the University of Illinois. These academic achievements laid a solid foundation for his later work.

David's artistic trajectory took a transformative turn when he followed his heart to Canada. In Vancouver, he delved into the dynamic world of professional theatre, where his multifaceted skills as an actor, director, writer, and producer came to the fore. His contributions to both stage and film earned him numerous awards as an independent filmmaker, establishing his reputation as a versatile and visionary artist.

Gradually, David redirected his creative energies towards fine arts, enriching his craft through independent studies at the prestigious Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Crucial to his artistic evolution was the mentorship he received in private studios around Vancouver.

His work is characterized by a profound exploration of abstraction, guided by his belief in art as a medium for contemplating the complex layers of human emotion and experience. Through his distinctive techniques and fearless experimentation, David has developed a unique artistic voice that resonates deeply with audiences around the world.

Inspiration for David’s work is drawn from a tapestry of life experiences, cultural histories, and the human psyche. He sees the canvas as a space of infinite possibility, where creative intuition meets disciplined practice. His process involves a meticulous layering of textures, colors, and forms, each piece unfolding like a nuanced narrative. For David, art is not merely an expression but a vital part of society, a medium through which we can better understand ourselves and the world around us.

As David continues to evolve his practice, his goals remain steadfast: to explore new artistic territories, engage with diverse audiences, and inspire others through his unwavering dedication to his craft. David's artistic journey is influenced by a broad spectrum of luminaries, from the painters of the abstract expressionist movement to trailblazing filmmakers and theater practitioners.

Creating on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, David maintains a full-time professional studio practice in Vancouver. Today, David's abstract works are coveted pieces in private and public collections across Canada and internationally.
